NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson breaks US spaceflight record, surpasses Jeff Williams’ record

NASA space traveler Peggy Whitson holds the record for most spacewalks directed by a female space explorer.

Leader of the International Space Station’s Expedition 51 group, Peggy Whitson authoritatively set the US record on Monday for most aggregate days in space, outperforming NASA space traveler Jeff Williams’ record of 534 days.

“At 1:27 a.m. ET on April 24, @AstroPeggy has formally broken @Astro_Jeff’s record of 534 days in space,” NASA’s page for updates from the International Space Station said in a tweet.

Also, she is the principal lady to order the space station twice, and holds the record for most spacewalks led by a female space explorer.

“It is one of those rides that you trust never closes. I am so thankful for every one of the individuals who helped me on each of my missions!,” Whitson composed on her Twitter page.

Russian cosmonaut Gennady Padalka, who has burned through 879 days on circle altogether, at present holds the world record for the quantity of combined days in space.

To praise Whitson for her record-breaking remain on board the space station, US President Donald Trump will make an extraordinary Earth-to-space call from the Oval Office at 10 a.m. EDT (7.30 p.m. India time) on Monday, NASA said.

Trump will be joined by girl Ivanka Trump and NASA space traveler Kate Rubins for the 20-minute call which will air live on NASA Television and stream on the organization’s site and Facebook page.
The call will be made accessible to schools, exhibition halls, and different associations the country over and all around, NASA said.
